Tree pruning in Chinon

Leaving Chinon the other day we were "stuck" in a traffic jam; something we are not used to here!
The reason for this jam was the pruning of the plane trees which line the roadside running along the river.

Because of the traffic we were unable to stop but we managed to capture one or two shots out of the car window as we drove by.
As you may be able to see from the photos the only concession to the traffic and to passers by is a cordon round the lift and a one-way system in operation...
The whole thing looked rather precarious. Not sure what Health and Safety would make of it?!!
The pruning appears quite severe but it is the usual way for these trees
Before and After shot

All in a day's work for the Tree Pruners of Chinon!
