Our latest acquisition for the potager is an apricot tree.
It's not exactly of a size to fruit this year... or next. But nevertheless, fruit it will - given time.
We had only gone for a ride out and to pick up some milk en route from Super U. That's one of the great things about going shopping with Colin; set off for milk and come back with an apricot tree. (And, yes, I realise 'tree' is a bit grand for our specimen!)
The first thing to decide was whereabouts to plant it in the potager? It needs a 'good spot'; somewhere we can keep an eye on it. Then the digging...
planting and staking...
And finally watering and the job was done. We await our apricot jam with eager anticipation!
And all for 7.35 €. As they say back in Lancashire: "cheap at half the price!"

Apricot clafoutis is nice too, I don't know if it's possible to make a flourless version.
Also in warm fruit salad, made with nectarines, plums and peaches, cooked with wine and cinnamon. Oh dear, now I feel hungry !!
Wow, Jean those ideas sound delicious! I think it will be a few years yet before we are producing enough apricots from that little tree, but we're not in a rush these days!!
