This is my fourth Ixus. I've worn out the earlier models, taking thousand upon thousand of shots with each and whilst I've always been very happy with them, I'm amazed at how far they have come in a very short time.
The main advantage of my new 'point and shoot' Ixus is its 12X optical zoom, which is wonderful for capturing garden birds and, hopefully in the summer, butterflies. It also offers manual override of the (really quite good) auto functions. And Colin may laugh (and no doubt some among you will join him) but I do love manual control!!
Anyway here are some of my first attempts at photographing our garden birds as they arrive thick and fast to eat us out of house and home....
The old Green Woodpecker is a regular visitor..
Then some cross-patches getting even crosser..
A couple of action shots, near and far....
Then a rather bemused, newly arrived Brambling...
A bit of a mixed bag...
And lastly, feeding time on the windowsill..
I like my new camera!

I like your new camera too! Great shots!
The blue tits on the windowsill are utterly charming!
Love the action pics. We call our goldfinches "Mr Creosote".
Bluetits are always "charming"... unless you happen to be the bird that tries to pick an arguement... then Robin eat your heart out!!
Also, the Blue and Great Tits understand double glazing... they sit outside, taunting the cats... and, if there is no reaction, they tap on the glass!!!!
Oh... and lovely pix by the way!!
