Whilst in England....

We went our usual walk along the River Ribble. This time, remarkably, it was dry under foot and despite a cold wind the day was good for walking.

Though we've done the walk many times, we've never seen such a superb display of wild flowers.

Here's just a flavour of the walk we last described in September last year and also in December 2013, so I guess we're covering the seasons...

The welcome committee were decidedly unimpressed by our arrival...

Wood anemone and Wood Sorrel growing by the path

Then the most wonderful display of primroses..

And the banks were full of them...

The Blackthorn looked a picture against the sky..

In flower, too, was the cuckoo flower..

and just coming into flower, among the Wood Anemones and Dog's Mercury was Ransoms. In another couple of weeks the scent would have been wonderful!

Lovely to see the English Bluebell, in favour of the less delicate Spanish variety

It's quite some time since we've seen Coltsfoot. This was past its best but worth a photo!

Violets were there too, if you looked closely enough..

To finish - one of my favourite images of the walk...

And a quick look back upstream...

We hope you've enjoyed the "virtual" walk as much as we enjoyed the real thing!

ps. We saw the kingfisher too but weren't quick enough with the camera!!
