Then we spotted this banner on St Nicholas tower:
The event in question is the second round of this season's Red Bull Cliff Diving championship. The dive takes place on Sunday and brings the best names in the "sport" to perform a 27m dive from St Nicholas Tower into the old port. What a fantastic back drop for the event!
Interestingly the favourite to win this year is Englishman, Gary Hunt!
We took a couple of photos of the preparations..
And if that's not enough to whet your appetite, you can read about the event here.
Just as a taster, I've included a couple of photos from past events..
If you are interested, you may have to wait until next year to take part, but if you want to spectate, get along to the old port at La Rochelle on Sunday 17th May.
Colin was keen to have a go, but as it's his birthday today, I've told him that his bus pass won't extend that far and in any case they don't do a reduced rate for pensioners!!!
Well, what did you expect??
Surely not!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY COLIN!!

Happy Birthday indeed Colin. I love La Rochelle so I'll keep a look out for it on TV tomorrow so I can relive some lovely memories of happy times there.
