Here's one for Tim or Susan...
Whilst working in the potager today we spotted this creature
The next time we looked he'd found a mate...
To give some idea of scale, the pair were balanced on a string of rafia, 5mm wide..
Such tiny creatures but, as the photos demonstrate, so complex in form... Any ideas please?

Sphaerophoria scripta, one of my favourite little hoverflies. Very common and easy to ID - the male always has wings shorter than his abdomen.
Glad Susan confirmed this for me. I thought they were hover flies but I would never have got the full name for them! Have a great Sunday, Diane
