If we are going to get some warmer weather, we'll be out on the butterfly surveys again very soon.
We did our first survey of 2014 on March 13th, so fingers crossed for sometime in the next couple of weeks.
Interestingly, our first ever survey was also done in March, in 2011 - our first full year living in Braye. We were introduced to it by our good friend, Susan, who writes a very informative natural history blog. It contains a wealth of information and is well worth a look!

Thanks for the nice mention!
Nice Brimstone shot....
I had one fly alongside the car a couple of days ago...
yes, I was going that slowly...
and I was in the Merc...
before you start making jokes!
I was trapped behind a very slow moving tractor...
in fact, at one point, the Brimstone began to overtake!!
But it made me relax, just thinking of Spring...
and we've had lizards sunbathing...
one appeared to have ironed himself flat, it was that desperate for some sun.
And twice this week I have heard a deep buzzing sound...
and looked up to see...
one of the Big Black Bombers...
the Carpenter Bee!
And the temperature hit 17 Centipedes here today....
Spring is a'Sprunging!!
