Each of the windows has a hinged 'grid' framework attached to both the inner and outer face, giving the impression of small squared windows.
All these need to be taken off to rub down and paint separately, adding to the work. However this was going well and the old paintwork on a couple of the windows was soon rubbed down....
And a new coat of paint applied...
Then Colin was faced with a problem when he opened one of the grenier windows..
Right in the corner up at the top was this little creature...
We put a ruler beside it and it measures under 5cm long...
I've heard some good excuses for stopping work but this has to take the biscuit!!

Awwww -- didums. At least he's a nice mild mannered (and bemused looking) bat, not one of the species that get stroppy and outraged when you disturb them.
I'm afraid you'll have to suspend the idea of painting that window until it's gone! We think it's a pipistrelle. P.
Update. It has now gone. Checked last night and it had flown so closed the shutter. (electric roller) It appeared it would not be able to get back in and it hasn't. Could have been fatal for it if we had returned to England for a couple of weeks and closed the shutters down when it was there!!
When you've had sufficient practice on your windows you can make a start on ours!! ;o)
Gaynor. Is bright purple OK x
