Painting Problems!

As regular readers know I am currently painting (varnishing) our windows. It is a slow job made even slower by my enthusiasm towards doing them.

This fellow caused another welcome diversion... Yet again a feat of climbing or jumping as she/he was on one of the first floor frames...

We think it is a Female Bush Cricket but are by no means certain!

It was safely removed to ground level and the rubbing down continued...

Having spent a lot of my life watching and scoring at cricket it makes a change to be saved by the cricket!

Female definately... with that long ovipositor.
Most likely Great Green Bush-cricket [Tettigonia viridissima]... spot on!
This is a gardener's friend...
eats all sorts of bugs and their eggs... including doryphore grubs and eggs [Colorado Beetle]...
they are normally green...
but I've photographed a brown one here [and seen others].
There is another [T. cantans] but is restricted to upland areas.

Nice!!
