Sunny Sunday and a walk from Pouzay

We have been lucky on Sundays recently. It seems whatever the weather throws at us all week and particularly on a Saturday, when Sunday arrives the sun comes out.

Another circular walk of around 8km was planned, starting from Pouzay.

Once out of the village we were into big skies and fields full of crops

and wild poppies..

This field was an interesting mix of field bean and rape. Set against the blue sky I thought it looked wonderful..

The odd farm or barn broke up the landscape. This one in particular added to the scene..

We were lucky to capture this beauty, which I was going to call a Ruddy Darter ?? (help, please Susan!)

And then came the sight which really made our day. Lin or flax growing in the distant field contrasted beautifully with the surrounding green of the landscape...
It is hard to convey the sheer size of this field. We've seen flax growing before but never in such a large scale.. And then, amongst the hundreds of bees enjoying the flowers, we spotted a Scarce Swallowtail....

No apologies for the number of photos; the flax flowers were at their best...

This final image is a panorama Colin took on his phone..

Such a fantastic walk on a perfect day!

Lovely pics. A fitting way to celebrate Colin's special day.

Yes, Ruddy Darter.

There is a lot of flax around at the moment. It is a good thing I think.

Near us... on the way to Descartes... there is a field of flax where the field is the horizon.... it is very strange to look at!!
Lovely, but very strange....
