Wood clearing at the Pont de Chinon..

Crossing the bridge at Chinon today you couldn't fail to notice the large machine lifting tree trunks and other assorted debris which had come downstream when the river was in flood and was trapped against the bridge pillars.. 

Two workmen were wading in to retrieve anything they could

It was put on the river bank ready for the machinery to lift it out and onto a waiting truck...

I must say, I don't think I would like to have been nearly waist deep in this lot!

Is anyone going to use it as firewood we wonder??
