The mystery unfolds..

Our "find" of yesterday now has a new home, as LaPré DelaForge suggested...

First thing this morning this was the picture...

Placed in the box it soon began to emerge, giving us some clues....

By mid afternoon it had moved away from the dry casing...

And just over an hour later it was further away...

We now have a clear picture of the pupa but we are no clearer to its exact identity. What does anyone think please, Susan and LaPré DelaForge?

Nope, this doesn't help, but boy is it fascinating !! I hope I get to meet it in person tomorrow. Part of me hopes it hasn't hatched by lunchtime tomorrow, another part of me wants to see what emerges. I'm particularly interested in the 'vents' along the back (spiracles for breathing? hooks for keeping it in the cocoon?) I will have to have a photo session with it anyway :-) (You'd best hide it under the bed or something when your prospective buyers come -- you don't want them to think you are weirdos or anything :-))
