Its bird time again...

One of our imports from the UK is bird peanuts, there appears to be a limited supply available here in France and you need a bank loan to buy them!

Birds on feeders are a photographers dream and this one had to be videoed to be appreciated.

The Nuthatch (Sitta europaea) loves the peanuts and the power it puts in to extract them from the feeder is absolute. Can you imagine moving your whole body to eat your dinner... Enjoy the video.

I have a peanut feeder but I am afraid it is empty, I could not afford the bank loan! What a ridiculous price they are. The birds here get a good supply of seed and their fat balls. I am delighted that our French neighbour is keeping up a great supply of sunflower seed.
Great video, my camera cannot cope with the birds they are just a bit too far away and I only have a very cheap camera :(( Diane

Just remortgaged the longere and went and bought a filet of 250g... Pauline heard a Nuthatch leave the feeder area once last year... otherwise we haven't seen them here yet. However, my brother put two pix of Nuthatches up on his flickr space here.
I've linked that picture to yours via the comments section there... you might get some visitors.

I love these birds.

They look as if they've been designed by a chic Italian designer.

Beautiful plummage and streamlined design.
