Here's the starting point..
So from that to this..
And finally, to this...
And then some little shapes to hang on a branch for decoration..
The sizes and shapes vary (3-5cm) as they are done by hand. I'm hoping to find a market for them, as they are such fun to make!

These are wonderful. Elizabeth, you are a talented lady!
What next, I wonder?
Agree with Gaynor!!
Would the little shapes balance in pairs to make a hanging wind-charm?
I'm so impressed with your skills Elizabeth... these really are beautiful. What about setting up a shop on ETSY?
Have you thought about subtly coloring them? The stone is so absorbant I don't know what might work, but a little wash of red on the bird's breast or some marbling on the hearts might be fun. Dilute acrylic house paint maybe? A bit of bling with some metallics?
Anyway, continue to have fun. They are really good.
Thanks for all the comments and encouragement, Gaynor, T&P, Craig and Susan.
I started an Etsy shop, Craig, but found it was incredibly hard to make it work whilst living between two countries.. stock in the wrong place; postage issues etc..
I'm having a stall at Faye la Vineuse on 9th August for Les artistes au village. I'll be undercover too, which is a bonus!!
Might give the subtle colour a go, Susan. Not sure about bling!!!
Good skills Elizabeth...
I love the little bird and the branch with all the decorations looks lovely. I hope you have, or are in the process of getting hold of, the right tools for this work? If not, try the La Celle Guénande brocante this weekend. They have vast qantities of rubbish and just occasionally something useful
