Preventative measures...

As regular readers will know Elizabeth is sometimes a nocturnal animal, she gets up at all hours and flits about in the dark. She got up the other night with disastrous consequences...

"Who put that Bureau there" was not what I heard...

What I have heard ever since is "How am I going to get my wedding shoes on".  It is extremely painful and nothing can touch it at the moment!!! (Requires much sympathy)

So some action was required... Whilst out shopping today we bought some things to help. This is following suggestions made during the cake club and after a very sympathetic posting on Facebook.

Purchase one... A head torch to prevent further collisions. (perhaps)

I especially like the option of red flashing LED's as this will be useful in tracking Elizabeth down when she is in the garden at night!!!

Purchase two and three... A freezable bandage and some bruise cream...

She is, as I write, dunking the said foot in very hot and then very cold water, this helps evidently... What fun!!

However on a finishing note... The bad foot DID NOT stop her digging a hole for the new plant bought for us, by our good friends, as a wedding present... It's a good job I was around to help with this planting before more damage was done!!!

What I will be acquiring in the near future will be some form of restraint (bondage) to slow her down a little... I understand Ann Summers do such things, but I wouldn't know anything about that!!!

Ooh... that is a pretty picture... the lady with the lamp... whoops, I mean the foot! Hope Cinderella can fit the shoe before the pumpkin arrives!

The bruising looks worse than when we saw it two days ago. I do hope the bandage and the cream help - the freezable bandage sounds like a brilliant idea.
I still favour the small bag of frozen peas treatment - lie on sofa with leg up on a couple of cushions, bag of frozen peas held in place by a tea towel tied around foot. It's important to stay in position for several days, gin and tonic ( or beverage of personal choice) in one hand, remote control or favourite book in the other, while nearest and dearest serves light meals and changes bag of peas for a freshly frozen one every hour.....
It worked when I had foot surgery!

I think it is probably good that the bruising has 'come out'. Once this has happened the discolouration of the skin will gradually improve. Hope the pain becomes less and the peas will lessen the swelling. Bonne chance...if none of this works I think Lancôme will probably do a good line in foot makeup... X

Now, Colin.....
go back to Lidl and get her another head-torch....
if she uses both...
she can have the steady white one at the front...
and the red one at the back...
BUT...
if you see a stationary pink glow in the garden....
go and help!
She'll be spinning on the spot!!

She'll get the shoes on, on the day...
if not, a strong Stanley knife and some Gaffer tape will do the trick.

The head torch is also useful when rummaging in the freezer. Good luck with the peas. Incidentally, soothing of injured limbs is the ONLY use for frozen sprouts. Pauline

Oh no!! Still, 10 days might be enough to enable the shoes to go on. The head torch will come in handy anyway, and having infra light means she can go out and stake out the nightly activity in the garden. She will have to make sure to wear something flowing and white so the neighbours think you have a ghost.
