Natures Art or Art Nouveau?

It may be just an ordinary butterfly but look closely and you'll see this Marbled White (correction thanks to ever-vigilant Susan!) is a true work of art..

Those underwings could almost be the inspiration for some of the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, a designer from the Arts and Crafts movement and the main representative of Art Nouveau in the UK. ..

What better inspiration could there be than nature?

It's a Marbled White Melanargia galatea, not a Painted Lady, but I take your point that it is a very designerish sort of creature.

That just goes to show how brain dead I am today, Susan!! I think I should just pack up and go to bed now!!

I've now corrected my mistake - which I'd love to claim was deliberate, but was quite definitely not! Sorry folks...

That's remarkable and you're spot with regards to Mackintosh - exactly my thoughts!

That butterfly certainly sports a Mackintosh wing!
