Well I Never!

Last evening one of our newly acquired hens, Tarragon (the Warren), produced a lovely brown egg..

Un oeuf is enough to make us very happy hen owners!

Then later in the evening, Penny (a Light Sussex), produced not one but two white eggs!! The shell of the first one was very soft and the second , though a little firmer, wasn't perfect. Her's is the white egg next to Tarragon's brown one.

She needs more calcium in her diet and today we've bought a feed which will supply it in the correct amounts.

That only leaves Heather (a Bluebell) to lay (and as I write she is making the right noises out in the garden) and then we've cracked it!!

They are obviously very content. A sense a glut coming.

What's the total today... you need to post and eggcellent update at the bottom of your posts!
Pauline has always had a very soft spot for a Sussik [singular for Sussex... ask her!]...
I think the Bluebell just look fabulous...
have the chooks been to reform school... or are the youngsters?
