It was up early today and off to market.. putting the 2CV to its proper use. They were originally intended as a utility vehicle, to take the farmer and his family, along with produce or small livestock, to market.
We didn't take any livestock but we certainly came back with some..
Let me introduce the "Girls"...
Left to right, they are Penny, Heather and Tarragon!
Colin suggested Tarragon, Barbecue and Roast but I'm holding out for my choices... maybe..
These are an early birthday present and are something I've been looking forward to since we first came to live here. I had hens back in the UK but unfortunately they fell prey to a mink. These ones are (hopefully) very secure within a first class chicken coop and run which was here when we moved in.
They are going to be the most photographed hens ever and although they were a bit "shell-shocked" after their journey here from Lencloitre Market in the boot of the 2CV, they are gradually "coming out of their shells" and enjoying the freedom.
One or two shots of the three of them settling in..
I'll apologise now, folks, because these will not be the last you see of them!

Wow!
How eggciting! (Sorry!)
I look forward to meeting them......
I'm sure they will enjoy their new home, and we'll enjoy finding out about their eggsploits! :o)
Nice looking chooks!
Thank you, Jean, Gaynor and Susan for your comments.
The girls have begun to settle and by the end of the week I think we'll have cracked it!
If not I'll be hatching a plan to sort them out!!
What pretty hens! Are the grey/white ones Sussex? I've wanted a Sussec since I was little and my dad told me about the farmer who lived next door when he was small and who kept Sussex (plural) and referred to a Sussec (singular) when talking about one of them...
They are exceedingly pretty hens. Are they too posh to push though?
Looking forward to some omelette and quiche masterpieces in due course.
Pollygarter, Yes the grey/white one is a Sussec!!
Craig, rest assured when the first egg appears a plume of white smoke from our chimney will announce the fact!!!
