Doors with a Tale to Tell...

Jim and Pauline very kindly treated us to an afternoon out in Angles sur l'Anglin yesterday. The whole experience was really special and we have lots of photos to remind us and which we'll no doubt share with you over the next few days.

But first (and I hope to goodness Jim and Pauline won't think this is all I got from the day!)  I couldn't help noticing the variety of doors to be seen on properties in Angles...

There were the ecclesiastical....
 The quietly welcoming...

Doors with messages: in this case parking and tuberculosis...

And then there were a whole host of doors which had undergone extensive repair work, some with new boards spliced into the old timber in an intricate way and some which can only be described as a botch-up!

Each one was still standing and no doubt would have its own tale to tell of what lies behind a closed door!

What a wonderful set of door pictures... the garage door, second from last, is definitely ready for either a new set of splice-ins... or, more decoratively, a new set to just repair the bottom... perhaps with a matching set of upward points... it would look like an open mouth to go with the eyes... a good burglar deterent!!
The "Tuberculosis" door is just wierd!!
My favourite door is the door to No.4 with the mat outside!!

Angles is one of my favourite places to visit. Our friends Chris and Sally live near so we visit most holidays. I love to have a drink and watch the world go by in La Place

I shall look out for 4 and 7 - they are distinctive enough for me to remember what they look like.

Doors fascinate me too and this is a great collection of photos.

Tim: I've seen the tuberculosis notice on a door over near Chinon. I suspect they date from several decades ago, but I've not asked or looked into it.

C&E: There is a rather surprising door in Asl'A that you have not featured. It's quite close to the church, on a garage in a courtyard behind a gate. You'll have to go back if you missed it.
