Richelieu Brocante de l'Assomption

Today is the fête de l'Assomption and a holiday for many in France.

We went into Richelieu to have a look at the Brocante de l'Assomption, with it's wide variety of stalls, held on the tree lined streets of the Av.du Quebec and Av. Pasteur just outside the town wall.

As always with these events, it was well attended and the stalls displayed an eclectic mix of wares.... from the sublime...
To the ridiculous...
At 25 Euro it's ridiculous!
To the down right spooky!
With more than a hint of the ecclesiastical thrown in for good measure!
We came away wallets intact but with another little slice of the eccentricities of French life under our belts!
Vive la Brocante!

What is it with asking such ridiculous prices at brocantes?! 25 euros - come on! But it's always fun to browse. And to find a Pope outfit is great - you never know when that might come in handy...

I agree about the pope outfit Craig. Did you see the Borgias on Sky Atlantic on Saturday!! What you can do as Pope!!! My cousin Holiday Grainger is playing Lucrezia Borgia. Its worth a view if you have Sky... Col

We taped it on Sky+ guys but haven't watched it yet. We loved The Tudors and this looked like it would be similar. I'll look out for Holiday (what a great name!)
