Richelieu's Fête de la Locomotion was held in the parc over the weekend and as always was very well attended. We went on both days.
The main event on Saturday was an auction of vehicles ranging from old wooden carts, cycles, motorised cycles, motorised pumps, to cars, including a Rolls Royce and a Fire Engine...
The auctioneers conducted the interesting auction standing on the back of an old army wagon...
Despite the good range on offer we did not bid on anything and the prices varied considerably, the fire engine selling for just over €200. Many items did not receive any bids at the opening price and were withdrawn.
On Sunday there were far more old vehicles on the parc including a good selection of Citroen Tractions, similar to the vehicle we had travelled to the event in with Simon on Saturday. The main event was a parade of vehicles around the town in the morning followed by a commentary on each in the afternoon.
For a photographic album of the vehicles including some general shots see here.
There were too many I would have taken home but these are four of the best.
We know Simon would love a pair like these - Celestine and her smaller sister...
If we could find one in as good a condition as this little gem the cheque book would be out instantly...
and finally the ultimate boys toys...
Must keep playing the lotto!!!
Enjoy the photograph album, we hope it gives you a feel of what was a great event...
