Rock Chicks...

Yesterday evening we went along to the 8th Festival des Barroudeurs, Barrou's answer to Glastonbury.

The weather was perfect (forget link with Glastonbury at this point!!) and the setting, on the banks of the Creuse, could not have been better.

We met up with fellow bloggers, Jean and Nick and Jim and Pauline along with some friends of theirs and took our seats for the first of three bands to play.

'Music Instinct', comprising two English and one Frenchman, played a brilliant rendition of rock and blues classics which got feet tapping and little girls wanting dance. This little one wasn't sure at first.....

but with some encouragement she gave it her all...

Then a quartet of slightly older girls approached the dance floor with some trepidation..

But the music took hold and they were ready to rock..

And roll..

And what were the boys doing during all this? They were doing what boys do best... running down the banking towards the river in ever increasing risk of ending up IN the river..

By the time we left, around 11:30 things were hotting up. 'Joyliner' were finishing their set and the third band, 'Tayazabeu', were just about to come on stage. The food and drinks stalls were still doing a roaring trade and people were still arriving..

We would have stayed longer but we had a reasonable drive home and - well, we're not used to late night's out!!

What a wonderful evening of music and good company...

The French really do know how to hold a rock concert. And last night they certainly had the benefit of the good weather too!

There was a music evening here last weekend but for some unknown reason we never got there. Looks like you had a good time. Diane

Wish we were there!

We're feeling a bit down at the moment because we couldn't make/get tickets for any of the Bruce Springsteen concerts in the UK. This might have begun to make up for it.

Yes, we really enjoyed it! We just wish all events like this were advertised in a more coherent way...

I find myself photographing roadside posters when we're out in the car because there is never time to read them when you're driving past!

Oh dear! I do sympathise... One of my friends went to his concert in Manchester and said it was wonderful! Sorry!!

Poor chap! Hope he soon gets relief from it.
