English afternoon tea in Richelieu

When Elizabeth's friend, the other Elizabeth was here, the two of them did what English ladies do best...

They went for a cup of tea. Now this was not just any cup of tea; this was one selected from a five page menu of teas, at La Fleur de Lys, Salon de Thé - in Richelieu Square..

I can only imagine how long it took these two to come to a decision.......
but decide they eventually did - and their choice? Assam.

If you are not still admiring the teapot then you will perhaps be wondering why the mobile phone is in prominence on the table?

Well that's because the tea came with explicit instructions to infuse for four minutes before pouring and  so the phone is acting as timer.. They certainly take their tea seriously at La Fleur de Lys!

I'm thinking we might copy the four minute rule when these two start talking on the phone.... But then again, I'm a realist!

Hi Colin,
The advice from Tim is that you are probably treading very dangerous ground and to quit while you can still walk ...

Good advice Tim... I am back to one Elizabeth so life is so much easier...

I hope they made it properly, with boiling water, not just very hot water that you had to pour onto the teabag for yourself, by which time it is only warm and no use at all for a proper brew....!!

It sounds like they had a successful tea drinking experience. Where we live in France I've given up -- besides being American I love iced tea (I know, anathema) and therefore make that my afternoon 'boive' when out and about at tea time ...
