Cats and Dogs

I am a dog person, love dogs and have owned a dog for most of my life. The last one was a pedigree Labrador who died a few years ago, since then I have been dogless!! When circumstances are right I would love to own another. In the meantime I have to make do with visitors like Lulu and a new arrival up the road who I recently made friends with. (In time he will probably become a bilingual).

I am not really a cat person so I would like a comment or two from you cat lovers about the following advertisement I came across on Leboncoin.fr yesterday. I must say it is a cute cat BUT

900 euros, FOR A CAT!!!

I have translated the advert with the contact information because I know you will be rushing out to buy it. (Tim, whose cat has his own blog so must be as posh as this one)

"Sell cute little kitten born on 16/12/2012 loof of a litter of 5 kittens. Loof Mom and Dad also identification of the mother: 250269602343981 I live in a small family kennel: From Framboisine, I'm used to noise, the dog, totally sociabilisée, I will be microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, with a certificate of good health from my vet, of course I am a kitten Loof. I am available around the first week of March. Terms of payment in installments, not serious refrain. Price 900 euros tel: 0618784593 or 0549859931"

I had a cat that looked just like that when I was a kid. It's name was Fatpat. I haven't owned a cat since, and that one on leboncoin is not that cute.

Hopefully we'll get a dog this year. We are on the look out for a wire haired hunting dog. The big SPA refuge at Luynes will be getting a visit in due course...

How much? I cost very little... the lodger came across me, my sisters and that brother of mine, next door to her parents... my brother is much more expensive... he swallowed a long length of curtain cord and had to have an operation... a costly operation!
And I agree with my staffs' friend... that cat isn't cute... it looks as though something chased it into a wall. Talking of staff... they are thinking of getting a dog... it WILL be a puppy so that my brother and I can knock it into shape... ask my brother how my backhand feels!
It's bad enough having that ginger lodger around... he drinks from MY waterbowl... Harumphhh!

She's a chatonne so you might be able to sell her litters 900 euros a pop... I wouldn't consider a pedigree persian though - that unnatural face shape must lead to respiratory difficulties.

Do people actually pay that much for a cat? I would have difficulty if someone wanted to give it to me !!!

Like you I'm definitely a dog person rather than a cat person, and agree with both Susan and Ron Ron that the kitten isn't that cute either. 900 Euros??? Perhaps I just don't appreciate a good cat when I see one...

When we retire we will probably get a couple of dogs with Labradors near to the top of the list. Our daughter has a couple of black lab/border collie crosses and they are such beautiful natured dogs. Luckily we get to dogsit quite frequently!

I love both cats and dogs and have had them all my life. Cats stopped when I married Nigel, he is allergic! Dogs stopped when we left S.Africa. With all the back an forth from the UK to France we said no more. Now we still say no as we would like to travel and the I do not think it would be fair to cart an animal around and kennels are a ridiculous price when finances are low!
I had a Persian female in South Africa and the stud fees I paid to mate her were ridiculous. All the kittens arrived with deformed tails. The people with the male swore it was nothing to do with their cat, I knew it was nothing to do with my cat as I knew the whole family. Never got my money back and taking it to court would have been too expensive. That was about 40 years ago so I can well believe the price now for a fancy breed though I would never spend that!! Only has to cross the road once at the wrong time!!! Diane
P.S. some of these new double word verifications are very difficult to read!!

We agree: this new word verification is a pain!!
