The Kingfisher

In French folklore the Kingfisher is the symbol of harmony in families....It is also said to give the power of beauty to women who wear its feathers..

This impressive Kingfisher adorns the bank of the River Ribble in Lancashire..

Pity it doesn't seem to bring harmony to the weather in that part of the world! This one's probably waiting for the river to rise so he needn't leave his perch in order to fish.

Doesn't look as if he'll have long to wait....
