How to move a bed...

Our credibility in the village took a turn for the worse today....

There is a perfectly good explanation (your honour!)...

Over the past week we have decorated one of our guest bedrooms. Today we started to prepare another bedroom and that involved emptying it of all furniture. The single bed in that room is not the easiest to take apart and re-assemble so we tried to move it intact - having taken off the 'sommier' (slatted base).

We tried it this way....
and that way.....

and finally decided the best solution was to take it out through the first bedroom window and in through a second bedroom window....

So once again we scored full marks on the "Mad English" scale. I could have sworn I saw one car drive past and come back for a second look...

Anyway, we're used to it by now. And we achieved what we wanted. The bed is now safely out of the way and the room is empty for us to make a start - tomorrow!

The locals probably think it's totally unnecessary to decorate any house more than once a century - an observation based on our experience of house-hunting in France.......

Yes, that's a fair point, Diane!

That's so true! Decorating doesn't appear to be high on the list of national pastimes here, as it is in England.. in fact, it doesn't appear to be anywhere on the list of national pastimes...

Haha...I'd have sold tickets in our village for an event like that.

The postman getting a puncture on his pushbike is exciting news here.
