Another new garden visitor

This morning we saw this bird in our garden for the first time...

It is a Ring Ouzel (Turdus Torquatus) it is closely related to the common blackbird, The name Ouzel is the name for the common blackbird in Old English.

To learn more about this bird see HERE and HERE,

We look forward to seeing it again.

This is not fair!!
I've been wanting to see one for years....
Pauline has just checked on Faune Touraine...
there is an influx for some reason...
possibly late migrating...
they pass across the region on their way North from North Africa....
but very rarely stop...often flying at night.
Some weather movement must have caused these to halt "en Touraine!"
They are marked here as a very rare Winter vagrant...
I have been to places where they are meant to frequent...
but only seen blackbirds...
I think that they can turn their white arc on and off...
and what I have seen have been Ring Ouzels in disguise.
