Passing Front??

"The front's passed over now; we'll be ok to go..."

These are the words I will always associate with yesterday's Art & Lard at Le Petit Pressigny...

Colin had been studying the weather maps; thus the mention of a "front". To be fair, I agreed that the weather was certainly "looking brighter" (my phrase for anything other than full sun), so off we set.

Ever the optimist... I went in a fully water proof walking jacket with a hood; Colin wore a jacket. Our saving grace was meeting Jean and Nick. They were leaving as we arrived and Jean, very kindly, offered her umbrella. Colin refused; I accepted. You may discern a pattern emerging here...?

Now far be it from me to take the moral high ground but...
Yes, that's Colin sheltering under a tree and this is his view...

L'Aigronne was rising fast...(please don't be alarmed, Gaynor and Tim!)

We were only in Le Petit Pressigny for about an hour but comparing these photos from on our way into the village....
and then the same shot as we left....
You can clearly see the amount of rain that had fallen in the hour.

Despite this, people still braved the elements, perhaps not in their hundreds but a good showing nevertheless..

We were about to leave when we bumped into fellow bloggers, Tim and Pollygarter. They pointed out that there was an art and sculpture trail around the plan d'eau, which is where we found this lovely 'natural' piece of art work...

Just a good job it wasn't windy as well as wet! As we left they were playing "It's Raining Men"; "cats and dogs" would have been more appropriate!

I didn't get to see the stuff round the plan d'eau. It started to rain heavily again and Simon hadn't brought a jacket or an umbrella. Hmm...is there something in the chromosomes?

We really wanted to be there but reading your account it looks like we were better basking in the sun on a beautiful autumn day at home!

Pity we missed the art...

Thanks for the description of the day. Tim (of Tim and Pauline fame) mentioned something about 28mm of rain in a day. Looks like it all fell on you - or Colin!!

Sounds like the day was a it of a damp squib. We have had more rain in the past week than we have had for ages! Take care Diane

In Greece it rains chairlegs (kareklapodhia). Definitely Greek rain on Sunday! Glad the outdoor art was standing up to the conditions! PG (as Tim).
