Shades of Autumn...

That Autumn has arrived was unmistakeable as we walked through the woods this afternoon...

There were signs everywhere..

From bugs crawling through bronzed leaves...

and fungi of shape and size..

to the macro-world of mosses and lichens which seem to come into their own from now until the start of the spring..

And to cap it all, a carpet of wild cyclamen in the Bois du Temple...

A wonderful display and a privilege to share..

Fantastic pics. Hold on to those leaves for a couple of weeks!

Great pix... loved the first... looked like two jets of steam on the thumbnail!
Like the Devil's Coach-Horse, too! Great gardener's friend that is...

Yes it really was so beautiful - the sort of walk you don't want to end....

OK Gaynor, I'll go round with the glue gun and see what I can do! But I don't think they'll all fall before you're over here to see them - at least, I hope not! x

Tim, we can see what you mean about the jets of steam!

What an interesting name for the bug, too. Wish we'd known he was a gardeners' friend... He may well have found himself relocated to La Croix Blanche!

You have probably got Devil's Coach-Horses... they feed on slugs and snails mainly... they are not uncommon.
