Kitchen upgrade complete..

Well almost, the only thing that required finishing is some silicon between the tiles and the worktops. Can you buy Ivory silicon or kitchen sealant in France? No, or at least we have not been able to find any. Another import will be the answer.

We finished the new worktops back in October (See here) It was then down to the tiles. We went everywhere looking at tiles form the cheapest at €3.60 per m² to ones that you would need a mortgage to buy.  In the end we found a plain ivory tile that fitted the bill in Leroy Merlin. Guess where it was made... Yes, Johnson Tiles in England...  We bought too many, as you do, but had no problem returning them for a full refund. Can't fault Leroys!

The other little item that needed attention was the kitchen extract. Like most other things in the kitchen it had been bodged. When the canopies had been installed the fitter had totally ignored the fact that the room extract grill was ¾ way into the left hand canopy which made it useless. With a bit of 125mm flue pipe and a short length flexible pipe we moved it to extract from the front of the canopy. The flue pipe was then boxed in, job done...

We love it and much cheaper than buying a new kitchen. See what you think...
The original..

The upgrade.

You can see the extract box in the top left of the last photo. Why this had not been done before we will never know.

That looks brilliant to me. Now I have in the past bought white bathroom silicone here but I can't remember where. Think it might have been the Leclerk Bati shop. Diane

Colin and Elizabeth,
The kitchen looks lovely and I love the simplicity of the tiles. Its a while, Feb/May before we visit again otherwise I would offer to get the sealant you require. However if it helps I am willing to post some to you.

If you remember, at Le Pre Vert we have about twelve different tile styles, and only about would I even have considered buying! This has reminded me of a post I have in draft somewhere .....
