Giant Wisteria

Could this be the largest wisteria in the world???*


I photographed it today outside Le Grand Monarque Hotel at Azay-le-Rideau. With Colin, at six foot tall, standing next to it you can appreciate the scale.

It's gnarled trunk was enormous, as you can see below...


Colin placed his hand against a branch to give an indication of it's girth.


I've photographed some wisteria in my time but never one quite this size!!

*Footnote:  Just in case you're wondering, the world's largest known Wisteria vine is in Sierra Madre, California, measuring more than 1 acre in size and weighing 250 tons.
