Canon all purpose lens...

After Wednesdays blog about the little used Canon macro lens, today I tried more shots on differing camera settings with not a lot of success. OK they were acceptable but not what I would have hoped for. I have therefore come to the same conclusion as previously... The macro lens is only good for still life subjects and when mounted on a tripod!!! This is probably completely wrong but I put forward my case with the following snaps. These were taken this afternoon with the EFS 18-200mm all purpose lens which is the one I use all the time.

Personally, as most of the pictures I take involve creatures that move and have a tendency to fly away when you stick a lens up their nose, I will stick with the telephoto.

The macro lens can go back in the case until I start taking still life pictures!!

Canon Macro Lens

I have had a macro lens for my Canon camera for several years now and after several failed attempts to use it, it has remained in the camera case. Such a shame since we are talking over £300 worth of lens!!!

Today has been tooooo hot to do much else but loiter around in the shade watching the bugs fly by. But as I'm not one for doing nothing, I thought I would dig out the lens and give it one more go!

Here are some of the better results.

 

I need to discover more about using a macro but I am pleased with these results and will experiment with some alternative settings. The lens will remain out of the bag for the time being and any advice from all you photographers out there would be appreciated.

Tomorrow it will be the telephoto as we are off the watch the Tour 100 as it passes through Lignieres-de-Touraine just south of Langeais.

Oh Deer, Things happen when you least expect them!

Elizabeth is always on the lookout for Deer. Whenever we are walking or driving I hear "We might see a deer" and occasionally we do and Elizabeth is there with the camera to capture the event. Below are a couple of examples of pictures of her deer....

As you can see they are usually shot from way off... BUT this morning was different.....

We had just turned right out of our drive and there in the middle of the road were two magnificent deer... Oh look two deer where's your camera! I said. Elizabeth was caught off guard, there were bits of handbag contents  being thrown around the car. I nearly went in the ditch trying to avoid them... The camera was out, switched on in the blink of an eye. The deer however where faster and made their getaway across the field of rape. Click click click... however being a manual camera setting person, the camera was still on an indoor setting.. Oh Deer...

 

Not the stunning results they could have been... Such is life...
