Back in March we bought a small Panicaut and as plants do here, it has grown.
It is a haven for insects, mainly wasps...
But they'd better watch out there is a small very vicious predator about...
The Golden Rod spider previously seen on our verbena must have decided this was a better bet for dinner... The big question is how does it know this...
It has this wasp well and truly trussed up and is enjoying its dinner...
In 24 hours there was nothing left... It's a good job this spider is not 60cm across!!!
Art and all that stuff

The Golden Rod Spider is back...
Friday, 11 July 2014
Another Verbena lover...
Arachnophobes look away now...
What a cute little spider you are! Photographed on our Verbena where we normally photograph flying insects. We have never seen one prior to this sighting yesterday.
In our attempt to get a better photograph it fell off... "You horrible humans, it took me ages to climb to the top of that plant..."
The Goldenrod spider is a member of the Crab Spider family, you can see the resemblance!
It may be small but if you look on the Royal Albert Museum link there is a photograph of it eating a honey bee... It is obviously not that cute!!
