Get a grip!

Not us but this caterpillar. What amazed us was the way it had a firm grip on the rose stalk it was munching!

We had identified it as the caterpillar of the Buff-tip moth and coincidently our friend Tim who writes Aigronne Valley Wildlife featured the same caterpillar this morning. (We only had one though)

His account of the species is far more than we could have produced so rather than reinvent the wheel you can read all about it here.

Thanks again Tim.
