Tree Creatures and

Wild Boar...

On our walk in La Forêt de Preuilly last week, the sharp eyed Elizabeth photographed these unlikely flat sharers in a damaged tree!

She also managed to capture some "wild boar" all be it captured already!

Keep that camera at the ready!

Fungi Foray in the Foret de Preuilly...

A great way to spend an autumn afternoon...

More about this tomorrow when we've finished scrubbing our hands with soap and hot water. (Trust Elizabeth to pick a Death Cap!).....

Preuilly Forest Walk

There was a mist over the woods when we opened the shutters this morning and within ten minutes it had descended to block out the woods altogether.

An hour later the sun was shining in a bluer than blue sky and we were on our way to the Forest at Preuilly for a walk which we've done several times before but which always throws up a surprise or two. Today's surprise was rather more than we had bargained for!

Tables were already set out for refreshments for the advertised event..

We had come to enjoy the peace and tranquillity and this guided walk didn't really fit in with that.  However, in the event we did a circuit of about 8 km, following the new sign posts, without seeing a soul.

The autumn colours were beginning to show, the sun was shining and there wasn't a breathe of wind.

The forest was every bit as magical as we remembered it and when we got back to the car we realised how lucky we'd been to avoid the crowds as there were cars everywhere! The Randonée was obviously very well attended and our timing had been perfect!

We rounded off a very happy day with a cup of tea out in the garden at our friends, Susan and Simon, in Preuilly sur Claise.

Who would have thought it was the middle of October!
