June: The Month of Roses

“It was June, and the world smelled of roses." so wrote Maud Hart Lovelace, the American author.

That sums up perfectly the final day of the Rose Festival at Chédigny.

There were so many roses to see that it is impossible to choose a favourite, so here is just a selection....

And some of you may recognise this specimen...
WHAT a beauty!!!

I think he's OK if you can't get George Clooney.

Isn't there a rose called George Clooney?
Or am I thinking of Gertrude Jekyll? Not the same.

Lovely pictures, they remind me of our visit to Chedigny a couple of years ago. The weather was very warm and the smell of all the roses was intoxicating.
