Friends and Memories

Some of the most enduring memories of 2012 come from the great days out we've had with new found 'blogger friends', most of whom we now feel we have known forever..

Walks with Jim and Pauline..

A Grand Day Out in Celestine with Simon...

Wonderful hospitality courtesy of Gaynor and Tim...

Birthday celebrations with Jean and Nick

Foraging for fungi with Susan...

Bastille Night with Tim and Pauline, Jean and Nick, Gail and Chris and my daughter, Jane..

What a wonderful year of memories, shared with some fantastic people...

Long may these friendships continue, and love and best wishes to you all!

Today's we think should be easier...

The clue is - It's a French castle but it has strong Italian connections.

Christmas & New Year Puzzle 2

Today it is a little more difficult... Perhaps...

The clue is - It is a castle, in France, built by Richard the Lionheart.

The answer is... Well not exactly built by him but fortified and made what it is!! See below and here

Christmas & New Year Puzzle 1

We thought we would give you all some "Where is that" problems to ponder on before the new year...

We'll give you a clue - It's a small chapel roof in France.

This should give it away!

Just shows the power of a small climbing creeper, Honeysuckle we think.

Reflections of 2012

A building guaranteed to be on English television at this time of year.

King's College Chapel, Cambridge.  This year it is on BBC 2 at 18:15 on Monday, Christmas eve.

We were lucky enough to have a walk around in March 2012.

Cute or Evil

Photographed in July on the bank of a lake close to Sainte Catherine de Fierbois.

Depending on your point of view this young Coypu is cute or an evil bank damaging rodent...

Reflections of 2012

Seeing this beautiful rose in full bloom, not in the middle of summer but on 15th January 2012...

We spotted it in Ligré after a walk to see the nearby Dolmen...

A bright, but very cold day, as I remember!! All the more surprising to see such a delicate rose in bloom...

Reflections of 2012

Fête de la Moto Luzé 8th July 2012.

When we go to events that have old cars and motorcycles there are inevitably tractors...

Over time our goal at these events is to find a tractor that is older than Colin... believe me it is not an easy task.

This one at Luzé came close, being the same age.

Sad really isn't it!

A couple of alert lifeguards on the Plage de la Parée du Jonc. 17th May 2012

Makes you want to go and have a swim...

Reflections of 2012

L'Hermione; Nothing to do with Harry Potter but a popular attraction when we visited Rochefort. The vessel on display is a modern reconstruction. We did not go on the tour due to the queues and the cost. Apologies for the photographs, they were taken by holding the camera over the high security fences.

Perhaps we'll save the tour for another visit!

Reflections of 2012

The crowds at Chinon for the Medieval Market, 4th August 2012.

As always it was a great day and this year we were accompanied by our friends Tim and Gaynor.

Reflections of 2012

Taken on the 21st July 2012 the first of a memorable two days in Richelieu.

The riding Cavaliers...

It was without a doubt an excellent and exciting display of horsemanship.

Cloud Cover....

There are windy clouds....
Wispy clouds...

Flat bottomed clouds..

Cottonwool clouds...

Colliding  clouds...

Storm clouds...

Passing storm clouds...

Wandering lonely as a.....

But my favourite is the cloud lit up by a flash of lightning in the dead of night...
How stunning!
