Trimming the Leylandii...2

We trimmed one half of our Leylandii hedge in May 2012. Shown here. Unfortunately we never got around to doing the other half.

I wish we had!!!  The picture below shows the size of the ******* .

We used the repaired long reach hedge cutter and it performed a treat, cutting and hacking through branches up to 2.0cm in diameter.

For the higher branches we employed the long reach pruner.

Tomorrow is another day and we have the other side yet to do. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

It does look much better though.

Trimming the Leylandii...

There are times when you wish you had done things differently! We started this blog with the cutting down of the Leylandii trees across the front of the house, see here and here, and at the time we made the decision to leave a few at either end. However trees being trees they do have a tendency to grow, which they have done...

Time to get the long hedge trimmer out... and the scaffolding! (Yet another use for it)

One side done, time for a rest...

By this time the temperature had increased... NOT before time..
The completed trim!

We would have liked to have taken a couple of metres off the top... perhaps another day...

We still have the hedge at the other side of the garden to trim yet... perhaps another day...

The perfect Leylandii

When we first moved in to La Croix Blanche we had a rather large Leylandii hedge which was totally beyond doing anything with other than a total prune...

On a recent visit to Gaynor and Tim's in La Petit Pressigny, Tim pointed out what I can only describe as the perfect Leylandii hedge...

Judge for yourselves...

Ours was once like this... I wish... I can only say this 'Homme' has tooooo much time on his hands....  Close up there is not a leaf out of place!

"Elizabeth where are the scissors!!"
