Feeding time.

This rather wet morning the adult Green Woodpecker was making the most of the softened ground. The two chicks waiting patiently.

But after not too long one of them was getting very impatient and actually pecked the parent on the top of the head.

The adult was not amused.

"Just be patient you"

"and you too".

 Order was restored... Just.

In the bottom left above you can see the Grey Wagtail.

He/she has also been working hard keeping these cuties happy,

Battle stations...

We had never seen so many birds on our feeders as we did yesterday afternoon, Here are a few photos.

Probably the best place to be was on the floor...

It has not been as bad today, perhaps the birds knew it was going to be frosty last night,,,

I would like to finish with a word of warning for anyone that uses Picasa 3 as we do... Yesterday I managed to delete ALL Elizabeth s photographs... 199Gb consisting of 70,200+ files... How, I am not sure, we had a strange folder (directory) with one photograph in it which was a duplicate of one in the March 2015 folder,,, I deleted it...  It deleted the complete set of folders from the hard drive under the heading Elizabeth... Why I do not know!!!

It took 6 hours to copy them all back from our backup on the NAS drive... I will not do that again!

Those of you who are observant you will have noticed some small modifications to our bird table in the form of twigs and canes. The object was to keep these two out...

It has worked to a limited degree but one of them, probably the female, has discovered they can squeeze through them and actually get onto the table, The other feeds from the pole as above... Interestingly they only ever used to feed on the floor and I have always and still do put food there for them and the other ground feeders...

It's great entertainment for the price of a bag of bird food...
