Thanks for the confirmation, Tim. I've got to the point when I doubt my powers to identify a daisy these days!!
I though that this was an orchid . To later find that it was not . It is an Orobranchaceae Broomrape . I found a Knapweed Broomrape in the UK. Very big and bold standing 20 cm high No colour as it is a true parasite
