I think it's a good idea too, but I read a report which said the reason they won't take off is that they will tempt people to try to beat the lights by taking off at "1" instead of "0"! I miss the small eye level lights in France too as they made it so much easier to keep tabs on the lights status.
Hello Colin and Elizabeth: This really does seem rather exceptional for temporary traffic lights. We have seen similar pedestrian countdowns in, we think, Brussels, but cannot remember exactly. Whatever, an excellent idea.
We notice it is 21C with you; here at 36C we are finding it a little too much!!
